The work of grit assisted patch (GAP) was featured on PNAS

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published the news feature of realizing the roads of the future. The news feature covered the state-of-the-art technologies that make asphalt pavements safer, quieter, and more eco-friendly. Dr. Liu's GAP product was featured and more details can be found via the link below.

Dr. Liu will collaborate with UC Riverside and lead a project funded by the USDA NLGCA program to improve agricultural waste treatment and management

Dr. Liu will work with CSUB and UCR researchers to build the capacity for FANH program students, women, and underrepresented minorities in investigating sustainable waste treatment methods and developing sustainable entrepreneurship and leadership through integrated research/education/outreach/extension.

Dr. Liu mentored CSUB students on a summer research project

Dr. Liu mentord a group of CSUB students of engineering and science majors on a summer research project that was sponsored by the Department of Education Title V program. The students learned different thermochemical conversion technolgies and watched the process of biochar production. Each student obtained a special souvenir, a tube of biochar derived from a specific biomass.

Dr. Liu led a SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) program sponsored by Chevron to synergistically treat dairy-derived waste streams

Dr. Liu worked with a group of CSUB engineering students (in the picture, from left to right, Hugo, Danny, Mateo, Serina) on a summer research project to evaluate a new synergistic treatment process that is aimed to reduce the CO2 in biogas and to stabilize dairy-derived waste simultaneously. The students learned how to operate a mini thermochemical conversion system and product collection and analysis.
